Items that are in stock are shipped within 2-3 business days. Out of stock handmade merchandise, like our featured pottery, can take up to 8 weeks based on artists’ availability schedule. Primitive Beginnings will take every opportunity to notify you of your order’s progress and estimated delivery date.

Pottery

Pottery featured on Primitive Beginnings web site are of current in stock merchandise and are sold on a first come, first serve basis. Stock is subject to change daily. If you are interested in a featured pottery item, feel free to contact Primitive Beginnings to determine its current availability. In most cases, if the item you are interested in is not in stock, we can contact the artist and have pieces made to suit.

Textiles

Textile stock changes daily; feel free to contact Primitive Beginnings before placing your textile order to check in stock availability. Primitive Beginnings works closely with the mill to provide our customers with custom colors and size options, but out of stock and custom orders take time to make, sometimes up to 8 weeks. The extended wait time holds particularly true for curtains, as all curtains are made to order, and typically take at least 5 weeks.

SHIPPING CHARGES

Shipping for items within the continental United States is based on the total amount of your purchase, and is shown at check out. Shipping charges reflect the delicate nature of many of our featured products to ensure that they are padded and packaged to guard against damage. We ship using USPS Priority Mail for most items except for floorcloths larger than 3 feet wide, which we ship using UPS. Customers will be notified via email or phone when their product(s) is shipped. Please allow 3-4 business days for arrival after time of shipping.

To save our customers on shipping charges, out of stock items may be shipped directly from our manufacturer, distributor, or artist. You will be notified if your package is being shipped from a location other than Primitive Beginnings.

FURNITURE

Furniture pieces are shipped UPS ground freight directly from our craftsmen in Georgia and North Carolina to your home. Prices may vary depending on item size and shipping destination. To give you an idea, shipping from Georgia up the Eastern seaboard to Maryland is as follows. Primitive Beginnings will be happy to get you a shipping quote to your destination upon request.

Damaged Items

All items are carefully packaged with every effort to guard against damage. All packages are automatically insured by Primitive Beginnings for the total purchase amount of the items. If damage to an item does occur during shipping, please notify Primitive Beginnings to file an insurance claim. Because our carriers’ policy requires the damaged goods to be submitted for inspection, Primitive Beginnings will need the buyer’s assistance in taking the damaged merchandise, along with the purchase receipt to the appropriate carrier. From there, Primitive Beginnings will handle the claim and make every effort to send you a replacement item promptly. 

Returns

Primitive Beginnings is dedicated to customer satisfaction and is happy to refund the purchase price of any purchased in-stock item (less shipping charges). However, all custom and special order sales are final. (Primitive Beginnings will notify the customer if they are placing a custom or special order.) Please read item descriptions and review product photos carefully before purchasing. Should you have any questions about our featured products, please feel free to contact Primitive Beginnings. We will do our best to promptly answer any questions or requests. Additional photographs of an item can be emailed upon request, as well as color samples for floorcloths and fabric samples for upholstered furntiure.
