Theorem Paintings

Theorem is the art of painting designs on velvet using stencils. Theorem painting was popular in the 1800's -- especially in New England -- but gradually declined after 1850, due to the increasing availability of Victorial floral prints. The word "theorem" means "a theory or analysis" and refers to the way an artist must analyze the picture he/she wants to paint and divide into numbered parts in order to create and cut a stencil. Primitive Beginnings theorem paintings are all hand made, one of a kind, and signed by the artist. All theorem painints are made in USA by American artists.
