Primitive Beginnings

All Primitive Beginnings carved santas are hand carved and painted by husband-wife team, Anna and Harold Goodman of Elkridge, Maryland, USA. Each piece is unique and a one of a kind, made even more special by the fact that most pieces are carved from old bedposts! Harold scours the mid-atlantic for old unusable beds with ornate posts and envisions a "sleepy santa" face in each one. He then begins the magic of turning a bedpost sillouhette into a detailed santa heirloom. The post is than passed to Anna, who paints life into the santa, using fade-proof artist paint and simulated milk paint with a light fast rating. The painting process takes several days, due the shading, high and low lights, and attention to detail that Anna puts into each piece.
